National Women’s Month and How Blue Bee Mom Celebrates It With You

It’s March and in the Philippines, it’s the month of the matriarchs!

50% of the world’s population is made up of women, and they are part of the top significant contributors to society. Celebrating women adheres to respecting, acknowledging, and praising the critical role they play in shaping our world.

In this article, we will give you a glimpse of the annual celebration of women every March in the Philippines for National Women’s Day and how Blue Bee Mom tries to contribute!

The Philippines Celebrates Females

International Women’s Day (IWD) came into being as a consequence of the organizational efforts of women in the early 20th century. Working women in the United States of America took part in the National Women’s Trade Union League and other concerned organizations’ actions to organize strikes between 1909 and 1911. They were demonstrating against the subpar working conditions and low pay for women at the time, as well as the absence of protective laws.

Clara Zetkin and the Socialist Women’s International pushed for March 8th to be declared International Women’s Day in Europe, which is observed annually to honor working women all around the world. Since then, the IWD commemoration has sparked significant historical occurrences. For instance, in 1917, when 10,000 female textile workers struck St. Petersburg, IWD served as the impetus for the general strike that kicked off the Russian Revolution.

IWD was formally recognized by the UN to commemorate the contributions that women have made to all cultures as a result of a long history of women organizing in different parts of the world.

Why Do We Celebrate National Women’s Month?

The annual celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8, and the month-long celebration of National Women’s Month in the Philippines serves as focal point for the women’s rights movement and raises awareness of problems including gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.
This is done in a lot of ways; before we dig deeper into them, let us first give an overview of the challenges women face today in every aspect of their lives. As all these are also crucial reasons why we celebrate women’s day or women’s month

Lack of Political Women Presentation

The persistent underrepresentation of women in positions of power is one of the issues that underpin all of our policy conflicts. The paucity of women in high positions continues to obstruct progress on issues like salary, humanitarian relief, and discrimination in all its manifestations, from corporate boardrooms to courts and political leadership globally. The sooner we realize that men and women alike are held back by the paucity of women in leadership positions, the sooner society as a whole will improve.
Patriarchy is currently the main obstacle confronting women in the Philippines. This is particularly clear in the political sphere. The patriarchal character of Filipino culture creates the notion that women are less qualified and capable than males, regardless of a woman’s experience, education, or ability. Because of patriarchy, many now perceive strong, bright women as a threat to rather than an essential component of the social order. This conclusion is reinforced by the biased media coverage of female politicians—stories that highlight women’s fashion and physical appearance at the expense of their policy proposals.

Sexism and Misogyny

The worldwide community’s top concern on the international level may be the empowerment of women’s voices. Women and young girls throughout the world are currently faced with a wide range of difficulties, including the danger of gender-based violence and the difficulty in getting access to food, education, and jobs. Their experiences and viewpoints must influence how we all live in the future. Giving intelligent, vivacious, and powerful women a seat at the decision-making table is essential if we are to develop the finest ideas for advancing peace and security, both at home and abroad.

Economic Inequality

The expense of child care has increased to the point that it is now, in most places, more costly than in-state college tuition, making it increasingly difficult for men and women to work if they want to. Earnings in our nation are scarcely moving in any direction. Despite the fact that millions of women’s health and financial futures depend on having access to safe abortion services, reproductive rights have been relentlessly attacked.

Women and their families are heavily burdened by these fundamental economic challenges. Though young women enroll in college at a higher rate than young men do, their inability to repay student debts is due to uneven compensation. Although more women than men work for minimum pay, it is no longer enough to keep a mother and her child out of poverty. I don’t even want to consider how many women and men have been prevented from having a successful future because they were unable to locate quality childcare for their children. We must restructure the economy such that it benefits families and women across.

Empowering Women Through These Ways

Even still, there is a massive movement among women to support one another, fight for equal rights, refute gender stereotypes, and create a better future for our girls. We owe greater gender equality in the world to this movement, which has spread across the globe. That being stated, it is obvious that improvements need to be made at home. Are you interested in empowering women so that you may contribute to our progress toward a brighter future? Eight strategies have been developed to help women both locally and globally.

  • Shut down your internalized misogyny
  • Break the gender stereotypes you conform to
  • Be open and honest; speak up for women in need
  • Advocate for female colleagues or non-colleagues
  • Support women-run businesses or entrepreneurship
  • Fight against the injustices of the patriarchal society
  • Donate to; and support women shelters or organizations
  • Keep a woman in school by fighting equal economic rights

Women must work together to empower one another in the workplace. However, in a patriarchal society, it is not just women who must work to constantly get rid of oppression. Men, who are currently the dominator of genders must abide by humbleness.
