Crying Lady Belta Folic Acid

While a woman grows a new life, anxiety plagues pregnant women until the day they give birth and meet their baby face to face. Among these worries, “abortion” is one of the most stressful.

There are statistics that show around 15% of pregnant women have miscarriages, 80% of which occur early in less than 12 weeks of pregnancy.

So let’s look at the types and causes of miscarriages that are likely to occur early in pregnancy.

Types of miscarriages likely to occur early in pregnancy

Miscarriage happens when pregnancy ends before 22 weeks. There are two broad categories, naturally occurring “spontaneous abortion”, and “abortion surgery to end pregnancy”. Artificial miscarriage and spontaneous abortion can be divided as follows depending on the condition.

Missed miscarriage

The baby’s heartbeat has stopped, but bleeding, abdominal pain, and other signs on the mother’s body are not felt and do not show.

Progressive abortion

With bleeding, babies and fetal sacs are starting to be discharged. Depending on the situation, it is divided into complete miscarriage and incomplete miscarriage.

Perfect miscarriage : all of the things in the uterus are naturally discharged

Malfunctioning abortion : While contents are beginning to appear, some remain in the womb

Chemical abortion

Though you got a pregnancy confirmation in urinalysis,  a miscarriage happened before your pregnancy was confirmed by ultrasound.

Infected abortion

Caused by infections such as bacteria.

Habitual miscarriage

When spontaneous abortion is repeated three or more times.

When babies and placenta tissues remain in the uterus, they need to be removed by surgery to prevent hemostasis and infection.

What are the causes of miscarriage?

In case of miscarriage in the early pregnancy, most of the causes are on the babies’ side. There are many problems with fertilized eggs like chromosomes that are abnormal and cell division that cannot be performed well, and it is decided at the time of fertilization that pregnancy cannot be continued. In rare cases there is an abnormality in the uterus – the secretion of the placenta luteum hormone is not sufficient, the endometrium does not respond to the hormone, etc. In some cases, the uterus is not suitable for raising the baby, but in any case, it is not due to carelessness on the mother’s side.

It is common to hear accusations that a pregnant woman has caused such things to happen as they “had to bring heavy baggage”, which can make you feel guilty but we strongly advise that you ignore it.

Also, once you have miscarried you will not be more likely to miscarry in subsequent pregnancies. Most of the time the fertilized egg at that time the miscarriage happened was caused by a chromosomal abnormality, and etc.

However, if it is likely that there is an abnormality in either of the genes of the couple so that habitual miscarriage happens, and you cannot bear the anxiety and suspecting some kind of cause in the uterus, then have yourself checked further.

Are there signs of miscarriage in early pregnancy?

Natural miscarriage is somewhat asymptomatic so that the mother does not notice at all, but it often causes a change in the body.

  • Morning sickness is gone
  • There is unnatural bleeding
  • Stomach and chest tightness
  • Pain like menstrual pain
  • Basal body temperature drops
  • There is a foreign body feeling around the uterine mouth and vagina

Some symptoms also appear even during a smooth pregnancy but discuss with your doctor when you are worried.

Most of the spontaneous abortion that happens is not something the mother can control. Please do not blame yourself.

In addition, because mental and hormonal balance may collapse from grief due to miscarriage or stress due to the frustration and impatience to get pregnant again, let’s calm down first and slowly recover and care for the body and mind.
